Review: One Good Dragon Deserves Another by Rachel Aaron. (Heartstrikers #2)

Dragons, Spirits, Mages and potential Profit! It’s book two of the Heartstriker series by Rachel Aaron!

A fantastic follow up to Nice Dragons Finish Last, Learn more about the Heartstriker Clan, discover the secrets of the Spirits and hold on tight for a fun ride through the DFZ

Julius Heartstriker is back with his Human business partner Marci – Julius has finally started making a name for himself – annoyingly for his Clan, that name is “The Nice Dragon”.

This book focuses somewhat more upon Marci and her “Cat” Ghost. We learn more about both and begin to see hints that there is a LOT more to their story!

But there is of course even more action and intrigue in the DFZ for Julius, his friends and his Clan. The Heartstrikers have been making waves in Detroit. The DFZ is basically Spirit Central for Spirits and they DO NOT like Dragons!

Can Julius continue to keep his feathers attached to his person – Can he survive as a pawn in an elaborate four-way game of chess between two great seers, his mother Bethesda and the great Spirit Algonquin? Refusing to play isn’t an option!

Just like book 1 (Nice Dragons Finish Last), This is a fun rollercoaster of a ride! We meet new Dragons, see Heartstriker Mountain and witness amazing action! The cover art is again by the amazing Anna Steinbauer – and it’s just awesome! Rachel Aaron again grabs hold of her readers and leaves them gasping at the finish line begging for more!

I. LOVE. THIS SERIES! I rated this installment 5 starts on Goodreads. I’ve bought it in both ebook and physical copy formats!

I simply cannot recommend this series enough! It’s like Bladerunner meets Urban Fantasy! Woohoo!

After barely escaping the machinations of his terrifying mother, two all knowing seers, and countless bloodthirsty siblings, the last thing Julius wants to see is another dragon. Unfortunately for him, the only thing more dangerous than being a useless Heartstriker is being a useful one, and now that he’s got an in with the Three Sisters, Julius has become a key pawn in Bethesda the Heartstriker’s gamble to put her clan on top.

Refusal to play along with his mother’s plans means death, but there’s more going on than even Bethesda knows, and with Estella back in the game with a vengeance, Heartstriker futures disappearing, and Algonquin’s dragon hunter closing in, the stakes are higher than even a seer can calculate. But when his most powerful family members start dropping like flies, it falls to Julius to defend the clan that never respected him and prove that, sometimes, the world’s worst dragon is the best one to have on your side.”

Side Note: If you read this book, you may notice my name amongst the Acknowledgements – That’s because I was lucky enough to be picked to beta-read this book! I know, cool right! I have no idea why Rachel Aaron thought me worthy either, but YAY! So, it’s worth noting that even though I got to read it a month or so before release for free –  I STILL paid real money for finished copies! I love it THAT much!
